US Secretary of State Marco Rubio has stated that Russian authorities must decide in the coming weeks whether they are ready to end the full-scale war in Ukraine.
Speaking at a briefing in Brussels, which was broadcast by Suspilne, Rubio emphasized that the timeline for a decision is approaching quickly.
“I think we are talking about weeks. A lot has already happened. I can’t say specific dates, but we see that there have been several ceasefires. We are closer to peace because the parties are talking,” he said.
Rubio stressed that the United States is eager to bring the war to an end as soon as possible and needs clarity on Russia’s intentions.
“If we wake up tomorrow and see the Russians launching some kind of offensive, it will be clear that they are not interested in peace. We want to know whether they want peace or not. If they do, then there is a way to achieve it. If not, then we need to know so that we can adjust our policy to that,” he added.
