Zurab Chiaberashvili, Secretary of Foreign Affairs for the United National Movement opposition party, on Monday asserted that former Prosecutor General Otar Partskhaladze, who has been sanctioned by the United States, continued to advance Russian interests regardless of his location, whether in Georgia or Russia.
Chiaberashvili emphasized that Partskhaladze, who allegedly is in Tbilisi now, remained a key figure in the “corrupt network” surrounding Bidzina Ivanishvili, the honorary chair and founder of the ruling Georgian Dream party, branded as the country’s shadow ruler by the dometic actors.
“Partskhaladze, an international criminal and a Russian agent sanctioned by the US, is a close associate of Ivanishvili and a member of the corrupt Georgian Dream clan. Whether he is in Russia or Georgia, he serves Ivanishvili’s interests,” said Chiaberashvili.
He further argued that Ivanishvili’s broader strategy allegedly involved isolating Georgia from its Western allies, including Europe and the United States, in order to maintain control through a network of criminal allies. “Ivanishvili aims to isolate Georgia from Europe and the United States, and he achieves this through such a criminal network, leading to the country’s impoverishment and the exodus of thousands of people,” Chiaberashvili added.
Chiaberashvili also highlighted Partskhaladze’s role in the political cases that he claimed had led to the imprisonment of Mikheil Saakashvili, Georgia’s third president, whom Chiaberashvili described as being held in “illegal political imprisonment.”
