Giorgi Vashadze, a leader of the Unity-National Movement opposition alliance, on Friday emphasized the need for stronger ties between Georgia and the United States during a recent event in Chicago, where he attended the official nomination of Kamala Harris as a presidential candidate.
Vashadze stressed the importance of increasing American influence and investment in Georgia, stating, “we need more American kindness in Georgia, more American dollars in Georgian families, visa-free travel, more free trade, more investments.” He expressed confidence that after the opposition victory in the October 26 elections, Georgia would solidify its path towards becoming a member of the European Union and attracting “significant American investments”.
Vashadze also highlighted the significance of close relations with the US saying, “What is the main thing for us? We should be very close to this powerful state, America.” He assured supporters that, following their anticipated electoral success, Georgia would celebrate many achievements together with American and European partners.
