Vyacheslav Gladkov, the governor of Russia’s Belgorod region, on Tuesday claimed Ukrainian armed forces were attempting to breach the border.
On his personal Telegram channel, Gladkov said the situation on the border was challenging but remained under control, according to data from the Ministry of Defense. He mentioned that the Russian military was conducting “planned work,” though he did not elaborate on the specifics.
Independent Russian outlet Meduza has reported that pro-government Telegram channels claim up to 500 Ukrainian soldiers were attempting to penetrate the checkpoint in the Nekhoteevka region and advanced further into Russia.
The pro-government channels also indicated that no active combat operations were currently occurring near the checkpoint.
It is known that Ukrainian forces are currently making incursions into Russia’s Kursk region.
