Georgia’s law enforcement uncovers 8 cases of pedophilia, sexual extortion, one arrested

The Special Investigation Service of Georgia announced on Tuesday it had uncovered eight cases of pedophilia, sexual extortion, and depraved acts against minors, leading to the arrest of one suspect.

The agency said the suspect had created fake Facebook and Instagram accounts, using them to systematically contact dozens of girls aged 10 to 18 across various cities in Georgia. The suspect allegedly coerced the victims into sending intimate photos by threatening to kill their family members.

The arrest occurred on June 16 in the Samegrelo region of western Georgia. During the search, the suspect, identified as R.K., attempted to destroy his mobile phone, but law enforcement successfully recovered the device and the fake accounts, which contained evidence of the threats and intimate photos.

The suspect faces up to 15 years in prison if convicted.
