Tea Godoladze, Director of the Seismic Monitoring National Center at Ilia State University, announced on social media on Monday that the United States has suspended funding for the center.
In her brief update, Godoladze stated, “To keep it short, the U.S. has halted funding for the Seismic Monitoring Center.”
She added that, following the closure of the Lugar Laboratory, this development was anticipated.
In late July The US suspended more than $95 million in aid to the Georgian government, citing its ‘anti-democratic actions’ and ‘false statements’ about the West and Washington. Following that the Richard Lugar Public Health Research Center, run by the National Center for Disease Control and Public Health (NCDC), was also reported to have been affected by the aid cut.
