US President Donald Trump held a lengthy and “very productive” phone call with Russian President Vladimir Putin, followed by a conversation with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
Following his discussion with Putin, Trump stated that the two leaders talked about Russia’s war in Ukraine, the Middle East, energy, artificial intelligence, and other key issues.
“We each spoke about the strengths of our nations and the potential benefits of working together. But most importantly, as we both agreed, we want to stop the millions of deaths occurring in the war between Russia and Ukraine,” Trump said.
He further noted that he and Putin agreed to cooperate “very closely,” including through bilateral visits.
After speaking with Putin, Trump called Zelenskyy, with their conversation lasting approximately one hour.
Zelenskyy later stated that the discussion focused on peace efforts and technological cooperation.
“I just spoke with Donald Trump. It was a long conversation about the possibilities of achieving peace, our readiness to work at the team level, and our technological capabilities, particularly in drone and advanced manufacturing. I appreciate President Trump’s interest in what we can accomplish together,” Zelenskyy said.
