The UK has approved the resumption of operation of the Boeing 737 MAX in the UK. This decision was made in connection with the improvement of the technical characteristics of the liner and the change in the pilot training program.
It is reported by the British National Civil Aviation Administration.
"The CAA announced today that it will allow British airlines to operate passenger flights on Boeing 737 MAX aircraft subject to close supervision. The ban on flights in UK airspace will also be lifted. The changes take effect today," – the statement said.
The department noted that this decision was made following similar actions by aviation regulators of the EU, USA and Canada.
Currently, the British aviation regulator is in close contact with the airline TUI, which is currently the only one in the UK operating the aircraft.
Note that in March 2019, the operation of this aircraft model was banned after the crash of the Lion Air flight near Jakarta and the Ethiopian Airlines flight, as a result of which 346 people died. Investigators found that the cause of the crashes was a malfunctioning computer system that lowered the nose of the aircraft down during the flight and the pilots could not correct this.
