Britain, Germany, France urge Middle East de-escalation, appeal to Iran and allies

The leaders of Britain, Germany, and France have jointly called for “de-escalation and regional stability” in the Middle East, urging Iran and its allies not to undermine efforts to achieve a ceasefire and secure the release of hostages in Gaza.

In a statement dated August 12, British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, and French President Emmanuel Macron expressed their support for US and regional efforts to resume negotiations between Israel and Hamas, which has been designated as a terrorist organization by both the US and the European Union. The leaders emphasized that any “further delay” in the negotiations was unacceptable.
