Britain requests US approval for Ukraine’s use of Storm Shadow missiles against Russia

David Lammy, the British Foreign Secretary, has called on the United States to grant Ukraine permission to use Storm Shadow long-range missiles to strike strategic targets within the Russian Federation.

Speaking at the Labour Party conference in Liverpool, Lammy highlighted the growing challenges Ukraine faces as the war, initiated by Russia, continues into the end of 2025 and into 2026.

“This is a critical time for courage, patience, and stability from Ukraine’s allies,” Lammy stated, urging continued and strengthened support for the country. He emphasized that Ukraine’s leadership, along with its partners, is actively discussing what additional assistance is necessary to prevent Russian forces from breaking through the front lines.

While Lammy refrained from commenting on the specifics of military operations, citing concerns that it could aid Russian President Vladimir Putin, he confirmed that discussions among allies are ongoing.

“We are working in real-time to determine how best to support Ukraine as winter approaches,” he added.
