This year’s Azerbaijan-Georgia-Turkey trilateral defense ministerial meeting was hosted by Georgia in Batumi. The Georgian Minister of Defense, Irakli Chikovani, welcomed his counterparts from Azerbaijan, Colonel General Zakir Hasanov, and Turkey’s National Defense Minister, Yashar Guler.
Georgia’s Ministry of Defense reports that the ministers discussed the security environment in the region and existing challenges. The parties emphasized the importance of trilateral cooperation in strengthening regional security and stability. Irakli Chikovani reiterated Georgia’s commitment to contributing to peace and constructive cooperation in the South Caucasus.
The meeting also covered ongoing defense reforms and future plans, highlighting the positive dynamics of collaboration at both strategic and operational levels. The ministers noted that joint exercises, expert-level meetings, and trilateral courses further enhance the interoperability of military personnel.
After the meeting, the defense ministers signed the official protocol of the trilateral ministerial and made joint statements. Additionally, Chikovani held bilateral meetings with his Azerbaijani and Turkish counterparts.
