Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs Aleksandre Darakhvelidze said on Tuesday that arrested attacker of the Bank of Georgia Kutaisi branch in western Georgia, Grigol Narsia, 37, “is not an acting employee” of the security police of the ministry, refusing to respond to media speculations that the suspect previously served in the state body.
Narsia broke into the branch at around 11:00 am on Tuesday. He initially demanded $2,000,000, while he subsequently reduced the demand to $1,500,000.
He also demanded a helicopter, Sprinter minibus,a fishing rod and a Russian flag.
The intruder took 14 hostages, who were released after almost eight hours.
