Deputy Speaker of the Georgian Parliament, Nino Tsilosani, has released a statement against what she calls “liberal fascism,” accusing it of devaluing traditional values and discrediting accomplished individuals in society.
Tsilosani expressed concern over what she described as a deliberate effort to tarnish respected figures and institutions, leaving nothing sacred except for “misguided role models.”
She criticized the ”insults” directed at Georgian Orthodox clergy, historical figures such as King Erekle II and Queen Tamar, and even Olympic champions. Tsilosani claimed that activists are promoting disobedience among children toward their parents and students toward teachers.
“Over one million citizens elected our Prime Minister, yet he is called ‘so-called,’ and a patriot of this country faces sanctions,” Tsilosani said. She accused detractors of creating a culture that glorifies morally and spiritually empty individuals, eroding respect for true heroes and moral authority in society.
According to Tsilosani, these actions aim to foster a society focused solely on material pleasures and entertainment, devoid of spiritual and moral values. She warned that this trajectory threatens Georgia’s cultural and moral fabric, which has historically been strengthened through challenges and resilience.
“Had we, as a nation, not awakened, this agenda would have entirely unraveled our social structure and eroded the values that have guided us through countless battles and hardships,” she stated.
Tsilosani concluded her message by calling for unity and wisdom to safeguard Georgia’s heritage and values. She also extended holiday greetings, wishing everyone a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
