Donald Trump has been sworn in as the 47th President of the United States, officially assuming the role.
“I solemnly swear that I will faithfully execute the office of President of the United States, and will to the best of my ability, preserve, protect, and defend the Constitution of the United States,” Trump declared during the oath of office.
The swearing-in ceremony took place today in the Capitol Rotunda instead of the traditional steps of the Capitol, due to severe freezing weather in Washington, D.C.
Approximately 2,600 guests attended Trump’s inauguration.
This marks the first time since Ronald Reagan’s second inauguration in 1985 that the oath of office has been administered indoors at the Capitol building.
