ENEMO Mission cites polarization and irregularities as major influences on election results

ENEMO’s Observation Mission, led by Zlatko Vujović, has raised significant concerns regarding Georgia’s October 26 parliamentary election, saying it took place in a polarized environment that lacked transparency and equality.

Vujović noted instances of violence against opposition parties and improper use of administrative resources, all of which could heavily impact the democratic nature of the process.

“These elections occurred in a polarized atmosphere, disregarding principles of equality and transparency. We observed acts of violence toward the opposition and misuse of state resources, alongside pressures on civil society and journalists,” said Vujović.

ENEMO expressed concerns over the independence and impartiality of the Central Election Commission (CEC).

„The cumulative irregularities undermined the election’s democratic nature. The pre-election period, marked by tension and misinformation campaigns, hindered inclusivity and equity, further affecting the process,” Vujović stressed.
