EU adopts 13th package of sanctions against Russia for invading Ukraine

The European Union on Friday greenlit its 13th package of sanctions in response to Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine, targeting 106 individuals and 88 companies, extending to entities from China, India, Kazakhstan, Serbia, Turkey, Thailand, and Sri Lanka.

The updated sanctions, slated to take effect on Saturday, aim to impede drone production and stifle Russian industrial growth, as per the official press release on the second anniversary of the conflict. With the implementation of the 13th package, the EU’s sanctions against Russia will encompass over 2,000 individuals and entities, according to EU sources.

The United States is also gearing up to roll out additional sanctions on Russia, coinciding with the anniversary of the war and the passing of opposition figure Alexei Navalny earlier this month.
