The European Council has approved the transfer of the third tranche of grants and loans to Ukraine under the Ukraine Facility programme, with Kyiv set to receive approximately €3.5 billion in the near future.
According to a press release published on the European Union’s official website, the Ukraine Facility aims to support Ukraine’s macro-financial stability, recovery, reconstruction, and modernization.
“With this third disbursement, Ukraine will have received approximately €20 billion under the Ukraine Facility since the programme came into force a year ago,” the statement reads.
The financial assistance comes as part of the EU’s broader commitment to supporting Ukraine amid the ongoing war with Russia.
