In its social media statement released on Saturday, the European Parliament called for new parliamentary elections in Georgia to be held within a year, citing significant irregularities during the recent vote.
”Members of the European Parliament (MEPs) have rejected the election results, pointing to numerous and serious violations that undermine the credibility of the process. These include documented cases of voter intimidation, vote manipulation, interference with election observers and the media, as well as reported tampering with electronic voting machines,” the statement reads.
MEPs emphasized the need for transparent and democratic electoral processes in Georgia, urging the government to address these concerns and ensure fair elections moving forward.
