European University inaugurates int’l project to enhance dental services for special needs patients in Georgia

The Tbilisi-based European University on Tuesday officially inaugurated the Erasmus+ institutional development project titled Enhancement of Special Oral Healthcare Practice and Lifelong Learning among Dental Practitioners in Georgia. 

 

The primary goal of this international initiative is to fortify the capabilities of dentists in Georgia by modernizing the curriculum of dental programs within higher education institutions. The project also aims to equip students with the necessary knowledge and skills to provide high-quality dental services to patients with disabilities.

The collaborative effort involves local partners such as the National Center for Educational Quality Enhancement, Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University, Batumi Shota Rustaveli State University, and Akaki Tsereteli State University. 

At the international level, the project boasts partnerships with esteemed institutions including Poznan University of Medical Sciences (Poland), Istanbul Aydin University (Turkey) and Sofia Medical University (Bulgaria). 

The inaugural meeting featured an opening address by Natia Jojua, the Dean of the Faculty of Medicine at the European University, with keynote speakers including Ketevan Gogilashvili, head of TSU’s dentistry programme and the President of Georgian Dental Association, and Lasha Margishvili, acting director at National Center for Educational Quality Enhancement.

The event was graced by the presence of Nino Taliashvili, Rector of the European University, along with representatives from the Erasmus+ institutional development project – Enhancement of Special Oral Healthcare Practice and Lifelong Learning among Dental Practitioners in Georgia (HEAL, ERASMUS-EDU-2023-CBHE-STRAND-1-101129331). The opening ceremony marked the commencement of a series of activities that will run until January 25.
