Bidzina Ivanishvili’s plans have failed—this is how Giorgi Bachiashvili, the former head of the Co-Investment Fund, described his recent escape from Georgia. He revealed that he took advantage of loopholes in the system, as well as unmotivated individuals within it to escape the country.
According to him, the system is broken, and those who operate within it are not fully committed to their duties. Bachiashvili also vowed to expose Ivanishvili’s actions internationally, stating that he would knock on every door abroad to make sure everyone knows what kind of person the billionaire truly is.
“I will say just one thing: when you cannot defeat people by force, you must outsmart them with motivation and intelligence. I used their surveillance and the large number of people involved to distract them. They were blindly following orders and monitoring me, but if they had been a bit smarter, I wouldn’t be free today. I am more interested in seeing the faces of those who were assigned to watch me and control my movements. As for Ivanishvili himself, his plan has completely failed,” said Giorgi Bachiashvili.
Bachiashvili, once a close associate of Ivanishvili, announced his forced departure from Georgia due to threats to his life. In a Facebook post, he expressed sadness and a sense of injustice, claiming he had received credible information about serious threats that could have had fatal consequences. Since 2023, he had been banned from leaving the country, with authorities confiscating his passport. However, despite these restrictions, he managed to escape, though his current whereabouts remain unknown. Bachiashvili accused Ivanishvili of orchestrating his persecution and claimed he would have been completely defenseless in prison, where he alleges he was already subjected to torture by the ruling party founder’s associates.
