GD’s Mdinaradze slams Blinken, hails Orban as role model for Georgia

Mamuka Mdinaradze, an Executive Secretary of the ruling Georgian Dream (GD) party, made a statement on Monday criticizing US Secretary of State Antony Blinken for his statement regarding sanctions while praising Hungary’s Prime Minister Viktor Orban as a model for leadership in Georgia.

During a fiery press briefing, Mdinaradze took aim at Blinken’s recent comments on Georgia, calling them “misguided and hypocritical.”
“When you impose decisions out of thin air to support certain groups or agents, it’s these decisions that encourage violence, as we’ve seen recently on the streets of Tbilisi,” Mdinaradze said during a press briefing.

He accused the United States of applying double standards to Georgia while failing to recognize the government’s “democratic progress.”

“In Hungary, Viktor Orban has shown how to prioritize national interests without bowing to external pressure. Georgia could learn a lot from his leadership style,” Mdinaradze stated, adding that Orban’s approach to sovereignty and governance aligns with Georgia’s path forward.

Mdinaradze’s remarks come amid growing tension between the Georgian government and Western allies, particularly after the ruling party suspended EU accession talks until 2028.
