Georgia and Armenia strengthen strategic partnership, says PM Kobakhidze

The long-standing friendship and cooperation between Georgia and Armenia have evolved into a strategic partnership, Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze stated during a joint briefing with Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan. The briefing followed the conclusion of the 14th session of the Georgia-Armenia Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation.

Kobakhidze highlighted the frequency of high-level bilateral visits as a testament to Georgia’s strong interest in deepening relations with Armenia.

“I am pleased to visit Yerevan for the second time in a year. The frequency of our bilateral visits reflects Georgia’s special commitment to strengthening our relationship further,” Kobakhidze said. He thanked Prime Minister Pashinyan and the Armenian delegation for their warm hospitality.

The Georgian Prime Minister emphasized the broader regional significance of this partnership. “Our close cooperation is crucial not only for our two nations but also for the security, stability, prosperity, and sustainable development of our entire region,” he noted.

Kobakhidze described the commission’s meeting as highly productive and underscored the importance of holding such sessions regularly. “These meetings play a vital role in advancing our bilateral cooperation and achieving the goals outlined in the Declaration on Strategic Partnership, signed last year,” he stated.

While geographic proximity has naturally fostered ties between Georgia and Armenia, Kobakhidze stressed that their strong partnership is built on a deeper historical foundation. “Our relationship is not just about geography—it is rooted in centuries of friendship and close ties between the Georgian and Armenian peoples. This historic bond is the solid foundation of our strategic partnership and mutual respect between our governments,” he concluded.
