Georgia appoints new ambassadors to Spain, Slovenia, and Vatican

On April 3, Georgia appointed new ambassadors to Spain, Slovenia, and the Vatican, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Aleksandre Chkuaseli has been named Georgia’s Ambassador to Spain. A career diplomat, Chkuaseli has worked at the Foreign Ministry since 2003. Most recently, he served as Consul General in Barcelona and previously led the Press and Information Department.

Konstantine Surguladze has been appointed Ambassador to Slovenia. With a diplomatic career spanning nearly three decades, he has previously served as Ambassador to the Netherlands and Italy, with additional accreditation to San Marino, Malta, and UN agencies in Rome. Surguladze also held the position of Georgia’s State Minister for Diaspora Affairs in 2012.

Davit Mekvabishvili will represent Georgia as Ambassador to the Holy See. His experience includes work with the Sovereign Military Order of Malta in Georgia and leadership roles in international foundations. He has been honored as a Knight of the Order of Malta.

These appointments mark an important step in strengthening Georgia’s diplomatic presence in Europe.
