On March 27, Georgia appointed new ambassadors to Turkey, Switzerland, and Cuba, according to a press release from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Archil Kalandia has been named Georgia’s Ambassador to Turkey. A career diplomat, Kalandia has held various positions at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs since 2005. From 2018 to 2023, he served as Georgia’s Ambassador to China.
Shota Getsadze was appointed as Georgia’s Ambassador to Switzerland and Liechtenstein. A former judge, he has worked as an expert on refugee and asylum issues for the UNHCR and ICMPD, as well as an electoral law expert for the Council of Europe. Getsadze previously served as a judge at the Tbilisi Court of Appeals before becoming Georgia’s envoy to Switzerland in 2023.
Grigol Baramidze has been appointed Georgia’s Ambassador to Cuba. He previously served as Ambassador to Armenia and was formerly the Secretary General of the Democratic Movement – United Georgia, a party led by Nino Burjanadze.
