Prime Minister of Georgia Irakli Kobakhidze stated that today Georgia is independent and sovereign like never before — one of the country’s major achievements since 2012. He made the remarks during an interview on the TV program Imedis Kvira.
According to Kobakhidze, prior to 2012, Georgia had completely lost its sovereignty.
“We were forced to live under a regime of coerced cohabitation for years. To some extent, that regime still persists today, but the situation is radically different now. Naturally, this change took time. Today, we have the opportunity to fully demonstrate our independence and sovereignty. Year by year, we have been progressing toward this. Today, Georgia is independent and sovereign like never before — and this is one of the main achievements our country has made since 2012,” Kobakhidze said.
He added that before 2012, for nine years, the country was effectively controlled by foreign influence.
“Today, the situation is fundamentally different. The country has regained real sovereignty and independence,” the Prime Minister emphasized.
