Georgia ready to normalize relations with US if ‘deep state’ defeated – ruling party Sec-Gen

Kakha Kaladze, the Secretary General of Georgia’s ruling Georgian Dream party, said on Thursday that the government was prepared to restore relations with the United States, provided Washington overcomes what he referred to as “deep-state influence.”

Speaking to journalists, Kaladze expressed optimism that newly elected US President Donald Trump would fulfill his pledge to dismantle the so-called “deep state,” a term often used to describe an alleged covert network influencing global affairs.

“The Georgian government is ready to normalize relations. We are closely monitoring developments in the US. The newly elected President has openly declared war on the ‘deep state,’ making it his primary objective to defeat it,” Kaladze said.

He further suggested that the resolution of this struggle would directly impact US-Georgia relations.

“The first step is, of course, to defeat the ‘deep state.’ Once this happens, we will immediately see its effects. Naturally, this will influence our country and our bilateral relations. The Georgian government is open to friendship and cooperation. We wish the President of the United States success in this endeavor and hope he fulfills his promise,” he added.

The US suspended its strategic partnership with Georgia last year after the Georgian government postponed EU integration efforts until 2028.
