The Constitutional Court of Georgia has dismissed lawsuits filed by President Salome Zourabichvili and 30 opposition lawmakers challenging the constitutionality of the October 26, 2024, elections. The Court’s Plenum released its final and non-appealable ruling today.
The dismissed claims, filed under Constitutional Case Nos. 1848 and 1849, questioned the legality of the parliamentary and Supreme Council elections in Adjara. Opposition representatives, including Tamar Kordzaia, Levan Bezhashvili, and Giorgi Botkoveli, argued the elections violated constitutional norms.
Two judges, Giorgi Kverenchkhiladze and Teimuraz Tugushi, expressed dissenting opinions, focusing on issues such as voter accessibility abroad and the secrecy of voting. These dissenting statements will be appended to the ruling.
The Court’s decision will be published on its official website and in the “Georgian Legislative Herald” within 15 days, marking the conclusion of legal challenges to the contested elections.
