Georgia’s Minister of Justice Rati Bregadze on Wednesday expressed confidence that cooperation with foreign partners could help address questions surrounding the free movement of former, wanted Defense Minister Davit Kezerashvili in Europe.
Speaking to journalists, Bregadze claimed there were numerous concerns regarding Kezerashvili’s activities, including his alleged role in financing the domestic opposition. “It is evident from his own statements that Kezerashvili is trying to finance the opposition in various ways, and he has not attempted to deny this,” said Bregadze.
He further emphasized that Kezerashvili’s movements, particularly in Europe, have raised concerns due to his conviction in absentia for embezzlement of state funds and alleged connection with a fraudulent call center scam scheme.
“It’s regrettable that someone with so many question marks surrounding him is free to move around. But I am sure that, through close cooperation with our foreign partners, these concerns will be properly addressed”, the minister said.
