Georgia’s President Salome Zourabichvili on Monday condemned Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze’s visit to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, calling him an “illegitimate” leader as protests erupted over the government’s decision to delay EU membership negotiations.
The protests, fueled by the government’s refusal to prioritize EU talks until 2028, saw demonstrators criticizing the Prime Minister’s actions and demanding new parliamentary elections.
Zourabichvili on social media, accused Kobakhidze of “secretly undermining the ministry’s role” and suggested his actions might involve threatening ministry employees in support of the protest.
