Georgia’s State Security Service has issued a warning about plans by politically affiliated groups to distribute “falsified video and audio recordings” featuring government officials in the run-up to the parliamentary elections.
The recordings, allegedly produced using artificial intelligence and other modern technologies, aim to “sow discord” among the government, the Orthodox Church, and Western partners, the agency said on Wednesday.
According to the State Security Service, these groups plan to present the fabricated recordings as leaked materials from the agency, seeking to undermine public trust and provoke conflict between government branches. The primary goal appears to be inciting public unrest and creating instability for political gain.
The agency stressed that it was actively monitoring the situation and will respond to any illegal actions according to the law.
