Georgia and the Republic of Seychelles have formalized an air traffic agreement at the International Civil Aviation Negotiations (ICAN 2024) in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, enhancing prospects for direct flights between the two nations.
The agreement was signed by Givi Davitashvili, Director of Georgia’s Civil Aviation Agency, and Anthony Derjak, Seychelles’ Minister of Transport, with Irakli Asashvili, Georgia’s Ambassador to Malaysia, witnessing the ceremony.
Described as based on liberal principles, the agreement imposes no restrictions on the number of designated airlines or destinations. This framework aims to make direct regular flights between Georgia and Seychelles more appealing, fostering deeper tourism and trade relations.
The groundwork for this agreement was laid back in 2014, with a memorandum of understanding signed last year during ICAN 2023 in Saudi Arabia. The agreement will take effect once domestic procedures are completed by both parties.
ICAN 2024 runs until October 25, with further bilateral discussions scheduled throughout the event.
