Levan Machavariani, Deputy Chairman of the ruling Georgian Dream faction, has responded to the US Embassy’s recent statement, claiming that the embassy’s actions contradict the key priorities of US President Donald Trump and Secretary of State Marco Rubio.
“With full responsibility, it can be said that the US Embassy in Georgia is not supporting the main priorities of President Trump and Secretary of State Rubio. On the contrary, through its actions, it directly opposes their publicly declared priorities. The embassy is grossly interfering in Georgia’s internal affairs and giving additional directives to Deep State’s Georgian agents to radicalize events,” Machavariani wrote.
He further criticized the embassy for failing to distance itself from such actions despite strong criticism from the ruling majority’s leadership.
The US Embassy previously issued a statement rejecting claims made by Georgian Dream’s Executive Secretary Mamuka Mdinaradze. The embassy stated that Mdinaradze’s comments were “entirely false” and demonstrated “a lack of understanding” regarding the embassy’s role in supporting the priorities of President Trump and Secretary of State Rubio—making America “safer, stronger, and more successful.”
