Georgian Gov’t Administration reports NATO Secretary General extends New Year wishes to PM

As confirmed by the Georgian government administration, NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte has extended his New Year greetings to Georgian Dream Chairman Irakli Kobakhidze.

“With all my best wishes for a happy and prosperous New Year,” reads the message from Rutte, according to the administration’s release.

A photograph of the letter has also been shared, in which Kobakhidze is referred to as the “Prime Minister” of Georgia. The phrasing has sparked curiosity and debate, particularly in light of the current political climate and controversy about the legitimacy of the Georgian government.

The mention of Kobakhidze as Prime Minister comes amid growing Western calls for Georgia to hold fresh elections. The United States has also imposed sanctions on some officials and the founder of the ruling Georgian Dream party, billionaire Bidzina Ivanishvili.
