Georgian health official ‘disappointed’, ‘angry’ as 400,000 doses of Pfizer vaccine expire

Amiran Gamkrelidze, head of Georgia’s National Centre for Disease Control says that he is disappointed and angry that 400,000 doses of the German-US Pzier vaccine, ‘which had been obtained through much efforts’  expire by the end of March.

Gamrkrelidze stated earlier today that ‘it is very much regrettable’ that Georgians have refused to receive the vaccine which is cited to be the best on the market.

However, he said that ‘it will be difficult, but we should manage to vaccinate 70 percent of the country’s adult population by July.’

As of now about 43 percent of the country’s adult population has been fully vaccinated, while the vaccination process kicked off back in March 2021.

Georgia is now expecting a new batch of the Pfizer vaccine.

More than 1.5 million Chinese Sinovac and Sinopharm vaccines are also available in the country.
