Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze has voiced strong support for former US President Donald Trump following his meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, framing Trump as a champion of peace against what he calls the “global war party.”
In a social media post, Kobakhidze praised Trump’s stance on the Ukraine conflict and criticized international figures who, he claimed, are invested in prolonging the war. According to him, Trump’s efforts were met with immediate condemnation from key figures in Washington and Brussels, who he accused of sacrificing Ukraine for their own political interests.
“Yesterday, once again, a clear line was drawn between the war party and the peace party,” Kobakhidze wrote. “The global war party immediately mobilized against President Trump – from Jeanne Shaheen to numerous officials in Brussels.”
The Georgian leader also took aim at Georgia’s opposition politicians, accusing them of hypocrisy. He noted that some who had previously flaunted their ties to Trump were now siding with those seeking to extend the war.
Kobakhidze reiterated his long-standing argument that the United States and the “global war party” are not the same, urging a distinction between them. He framed the current geopolitical struggle as a battle between forces that seek peace and those willing to fight “until the last Ukrainian.”
“The battle between the war party and those who seek peace is entering a decisive phase,” he wrote, expressing hope that peace would prevail and calling for an end to the conflict as soon as possible.
Concluding his statement, Kobakhidze wished Trump “strength and courage” in what he described as a difficult fight against pro-war elites.
