Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze has cast doubt on the prospects of a “pro-Georgian resolution” proposed by Germany’s Alternative for Germany (AfD) party gaining success in the European Parliament. Speaking in Dubai, Kobakhidze suggested that the “deep state still holds significant sway within EU institutions”, allegedly hindering such initiatives.
“We have no illusions that a pro-Georgian resolution registered by the AfD will find support, since the ‘deep state’ remains strong there,” he said. The Prime Minister also claimed a “close connection” between the AfD and the newly elected US administration, hinting at broader political alignments.
