During his visit to Budapest, Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze held a meeting with European Council President Charles Michel, where he discussed key issues surrounding Georgia-EU relations. According to a statement from the government administration, Kobakhidze used the opportunity to share updates on Georgia’s current political environment, highlighting the challenges faced by the Georgian opposition in mobilizing public support.
In his remarks, Kobakhidze stated that he had conveyed Georgia’s openness to continued dialogue, noting, “I reaffirmed our complete openness and flexibility for discussions with Charles Michel. We remain ready for any constructive discourse with our partners.”
He also emphasized that the government’s commitment to dialogue reflects its dedication to maintaining strong ties with the EU and advancing democratic processes.
“I told Charles Michel about the current situation in Georgia, including that the opposition is having a hard time mobilizing people and lacks popular support. In such conditions, I believe events will unfold much more smoothly than they did four years ago. The opposition has no resources at all. In this case, they have far fewer resources than they did four years ago,” Kobakhidze commented.
