Georgian PM introduces new Education Minister amid reshuffle

Georgia’s Prime Minister, Irakli Kobakhidze, announced Aleksandre Tsuladze as the new Minister of Education, Science, and Youth Affairs on Wednesday, following the resignation of Giorgi Amilakhvari.

Tsuladze, who previously served as Deputy Minister, will lead the ministry as part of the government’s pre-election efforts to “revamp the education sector”.

Amilakhvari’s resignation, according to Kobakhidze, was not linked to recent controversies surrounding Ilia State University’s conditional authorisation but was instead driven by his decision to return to the private sector. The Prime Minister emphasized that it was important for the new minister to be involved in the planning phase of the government’s four-year election programme.

Tsuladze pledged to prioritize the future of education in Georgia, promising to work “diligently and responsibly” to build a stronger foundation for the country’s youth.
