Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili on Tuesday met Joshua Huck, Deputy Assistant Secretary of the U.S. State Department. The discussion, conducted within the Government Administration, centered on the strategic partnership between Georgia and the United States of America, emphasizing the reinforcement of collaboration across various sectors.
One of the key points of focus during the meeting was the strategic partnership agenda, with both leaders reviewing steps to solidify and deepen the existing cooperation. The officials deliberated on the progress Georgia has made towards European Union integration, with Huck extending congratulations to Garibashvili for the positive decision by the European Commission recommending candidate status for the country, the Government press office said.
The PM expressed optimism regarding the forthcoming decision by the European Council, underscoring EU integration as a top priority in Georgia’s foreign policy.
The discussions also delved into regional security matters, where the officials exchanged ideas on peaceful conflict resolution and collaborative efforts in the face of global challenges. The leaders highlighted the importance of addressing current security and humanitarian issues in the occupied territories of Georgia.
Expressing gratitude, Garibashvili acknowledged the open support of the United States towards Georgia’s sovereignty, territorial integrity, and EU integration. The meeting was attended by Robin L. Dunnigan, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United States of America to Georgia; Ilia Darchiashvili, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Georgia; and Revaz Javelidze, Head of Government Administration.
