Georgian President hosts Azerbaijani Parliamentary Speaker, reaffirms “strong” bilateral ties

Georgian President Mikheil Kavelashvili on Tuesday welcomed the Chair of the Milli Majlis of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Sahiba Gafarova, along with an Azerbaijani delegation, at the Orbeliani Palace in capital Tbilisi.

The meeting highlighted the “historically strong friendship” between the two nations and highlighted key areas of the Georgia-Azerbaijan strategic partnership, the President’s press office said.

Discussions focused on regional developments in the South Caucasus, with Kavelashvili reaffirming Georgia’s “unwavering commitment to peace and stability” in the region.

He further emphasized Georgia’s foreign policy priorities, which the official claimed “center on fostering cooperation, ensuring security, and advancing economic prosperity” in the South Caucasus.

The leaders also addressed trilateral cooperation between Georgia, Azerbaijan, and Turkey, which they said serves to further strengthen regional partnerships.

President Kavelashvili expressed gratitude for Azerbaijan’s “continued support” for Georgia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, affirming that the friendship and cooperation between the two nations would continue to grow.
