Irma Inashvili, leader of the pro-Russian Georgian Alliance of Patriots party, who is currently holding meetings in Moscow, claims that Georgia should now speak with Russia about neutrality and peace, stating that the Georgian United National Movement (UNM) opposition party and the Ukrainian authorities are trying to drag the country into the Russia-Ukraine war.
In her recent Facebook post, Inashvili also responded to Kyiv’s recent allegations on Tbilisi aiding Russia to smuggle in various goods to circumvent sanctions.
“It is a fact that the Ukrainian government has not been able to identify itself as a friend of Georgia. Every day we see attempts to somehow drag Georgia in the conflict with Russia. Statements being made by Zelensky’s government are neither friendly, nor correct or unbiased. What smuggling of weapons?! Everyone understands that nothing like this is happening in Georgia!,” Inashvili said, noting that “attempts to push Georgia into the war is a gross interference in the internal affairs of Georgia which is done by the Ukrainian government.”
Inashvili said that she “fully shares” the position of the Hungarian government that it is “protecting the interests of its people and that the war in Ukraine is not their war,”
She also said that if the Ukrainian authorities launched talks on neutrality two months ago, the country would have avoided the war.
