Georgia’s ruling power recognizes unprofitability of admitting shift in foreign course before elections – political scientist

Political scientist Gia Nodia on Thursday asserted that Georgia’s political trajectory had shifted under the current government, resulting in the West no longer viewing the country as a partner. He claimed that the government recognized the alleged unprofitability of admitting the reality before the upcoming October general elections.

“The political course of Georgia has changed, and the West no longer considers the country its partner under the current government,” Nodia said. He further emphasized that the ruling party, Georgian Dream, was unwilling to acknowledge that shift due to its potential unacceptability among its voter base.

“Bidzina Ivanishvili and GD want to create an alternative reality,” Nodia continued. “This political shift is a reality, but they understand that admitting this before the elections would be unprofitable for them. Since this reality is not acceptable to many of their supporters, they are inventing something else.”
