I’ll decide when to come to Tbilisi city assembly – mayor Kaladze

Tbilisi mayor Kakha Kaladze said on Monday that he would decide himself when to arrive in Tbilisi city assembly to respond to the questions over the recent deadly electrocution incident in newly renovated central Vake Park, which claimed the life of one minor and left two others injured.

“I have never backed down from cooperation with the opposition, never. Even though the city council was newly elected, when I arrived, I immediately expressed my willingness to cooperate, but cooperation cannot be one-sided. Therefore, we remember their attitude, statements, insults, and slander. As for coming to the council, I will decide that. I will come when necessary and answer all kinds of questions when there is time and necessity”, he said.

“As for the investigation, it is in progress. If any additional new circumstances emerge, believe me, an appropriate response will follow”, Kaladze added.

Nine individuals, including the deputy head of Tbilisi city hall environmental agency, have been arrested for professional negligence in the incident on October 13, while the head of the agency resigned.

The opposition is calling on Kaladze “to take responsibility” and resign.
