Indigo journalist Saba Sordia detained by police for alleged disobedience

Georgian journalist Saba Sordia, working with Indigo magazine, has been detained by police under Article 173 of the Administrative Offenses Code, which refers to disobedience toward law enforcement.

According to Indigo’s executive director, Nata Dzvelishvili, Sordia was transferred to the detention facility in Dighomi. She shared on social media that the journalist’s arrest became known after friends noticed his scooter abandoned on the street.

“The police have detained Indigo journalist Saba Sordia. As the press service informed me, it’s on charges of disobeying the police. He’s been taken to the Dighomi isolator. We don’t have further information yet—we’re waiting for the lawyer to enter and learn more about what happened,” Dzvelishvili wrote.
