Prime Minister of Georgia Irakli Kobakhidze on Thursday emphasized Georgia’s potential in enhancing Europe’s connectivity during his visit to the United Kingdom for the 4th meeting of the European Political Community.
Speaking to journalists amid tensions with the EU and the US after the adoption of the controversial Foreign Influence Transparency Law, Kobakhidze highlighted that Georgia was poised to contribute significantly to Europe’s energy connectivity.
“Today, I will participate in the fourth summit of the European Political Community. This is an important event, with connectivity, particularly energy connectivity, being one of the main themes. We will share our vision with our European colleagues on Georgia’s role in this regard,” he noted.
The PM underscored ongoing projects that he said strengthenedGeorgia’s transit capabilities, including its involvement in the Middle Corridor initiative. “We have several ongoing projects that enhance our transit function, which will be of great interest to Europe and particularly to the Black Sea region. We will discuss these specific projects with our European partners,” Kobakhidze added.
He also mentioned the opportunity to engage in bilateral discussions on various political topics, including the expansion of the European Union. “We will have the chance to talk with colleagues in a two-way format, covering all relevant topics, including political issues.
Expansion will be one of the important subjects of our discussions,” Kobakhidze said.
