In the early hours of Wednesday, Russian forces launched a major combined missile and drone attack on Kyiv and the surrounding region, marking the first assault of this scale in over two months. The attack triggered air raid alerts across the capital at 7:00 am local time, with sirens warning residents to seek shelter.
According to Kyiv’s city-military administration, the assault lasted more than two hours, pushing Ukraine’s air defense systems into action to intercept the incoming drones and missiles. Although Ukrainian forces successfully repelled much of the assault, debris from downed missiles and drones caused fires in multiple areas across Kyiv. At least one person has been reported injured due to the resulting damage.
