Olympic champion Zurab Zviadauri and Jaba Jangirashvili, who were detained together with him, will be officially charged today.
Both defendants are in the Telavi pre-trial detention center. Olympic champion and former Georgian Dream MP used the right to remain silent for two days, but he broke the silence today. According to Zviadauri, he did not intend to kill and it was necessary to repel him.
“Zurab Zviadauri did not take part in the conflict, then his brother called and he arrived to take him. Zviadauri’s brother, who has 6-7 wounds, and his friend, who has got shot with up to 10 bullets, were killed. Only two men and how many more shots were fired there. Zurab Zviadauri’s firing on the opponent is completely legitimate and fair and he did not start shooting” – said Zurab Zviadauri’s lawyer Tariel Murmanashvili.
Three people were killed as a result of a confrontation in Tsinandali forest, one of them is Zurab Zviadauri’s brother.
