Local elections to take place in Georgia on October 4

Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze announced that Georgia’s local self-government elections are scheduled for October 4, inviting international observers to monitor the process freely. Speaking to Georgian journalists in Antalya, Kobakhidze emphasized the transparency and legitimacy of past elections, citing the OSCE/ODIHR’s confirmation of their validity.

He noted that the opposition has failed to provide any evidence of systemic or significant irregularities, even in isolated cases. “Everything is as clear as day. The only thing they spoke about was the so-called ‘leak’, which, as you can understand, is hardly a real issue,” he stated.

Kobakhidze also mentioned that the Prosecutor’s Office has officially launched an investigation into election-related claims, yet opposition representatives have not actively participated in the process.

The Prime Minister reiterated the government’s commitment to holding transparent and fair elections, welcoming international scrutiny.
