French President Emmanuel Macron stated that while international partners are working to ensure peace in Ukraine, Russia continues its military aggression with renewed intensity.
On Ukraine’s national day of mourning, Macron expressed concern for the victims of Russian attacks, including civilians and children, particularly referencing the April 4 strike on Kryvyi Rih. He noted that multiple Russian strikes had also targeted residential areas in Kyiv and other cities the previous night.
Nearly a month has passed since Ukraine accepted a proposal by US President Donald Trump for a comprehensive 30-day ceasefire. However, despite diplomatic efforts, Russia has escalated its offensive rather than pursuing peace.
Macron emphasized that Russian strikes must stop and that a ceasefire should be implemented as soon as possible. He warned that if Moscow continues to reject peace initiatives and delay negotiations, the international community must respond with decisive measures.
