Man sentenced to life for killing four in market revenge attack

The Rustavi City Court has fully accepted the evidence presented by the Prosecutor’s Office and found the accused man guilty in the case of the murder of four individuals in the city of Rustavi.

According to the evidence examined during the trial, it was confirmed that on February 9, 2024, at the “Istanbul Market” in Rustavi, the accused, motivated by revenge, fired several shots from a firearm registered in his brother’s name, inflicting life-threatening injuries on five people. As a result, four victims died on the spot, while one survived due to timely medical intervention.

The police arrested the accused on February 9. He was charged under Articles 109(b) and (l) and 19-109(b) and (l) of the Georgian Criminal Code (premeditated murder and attempted premeditated murder of two or more individuals, using means that deliberately endanger the life or health of others).

The court found the defendant guilty and sentenced him to life imprisonment, according to the Prosecutor’s Office.
